Commencement ceremony 2017

Our Commencement ceremony was held on Tuesday 14 November 2017 in St. Anne's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin 2.  The graduating students are being conferred with degrees and diplomas in several disciplines, including performing arts, creative writing, liberal arts and international business. The graduating students come from a range of countries, including Ireland, the United States of America, Mauritius, Brazil, South Africa, Moldova, Colombia, Bulgaria and Russia.  Here are a selection of photographs from the event.

Haleigh York delivered the student address.  In her speech she mentioned of the college "It’s not just a school, it’s a family. The open-door policy offered by our lecturers and faculty is a special aspect that can’t be found elsewhere. Whether you’re a student, faculty member, or alumnus you will always have a home and support network at ACD."

The Prestigious Trustees Medal was presented to Polina Osipova.

Dr. Donald E. Ross, Olivia O'Leary, Dr. Gerald Kean

Olivia O’Leary was presented with an honorary degree.  She has presented television and radio programmes for the last three decades for both RTÉ and the British channels, BBC and ITV.  She was the first woman to front BBC television’s ‘Newsnight’.  As a print journalist, she has written about politics for both The Irish Times and The Sunday Tribune.  She has won three Jacob’s Awards and a Cross Pen Award for her work in Ireland and a Sony Award for BBC Radio 4 programme ‘Between Ourselves’. With Dr Helen Burke, she co-wrote the authorised biography of former Irish President, Mary Robinson, published by Hodder and Stoughton. She currently contributes a weekly political column on ‘Drivetime’ and presents ‘The Poetry Programme’, both broadcasted on RTÉ Radio One.
