Study abroad

American College Dublin (ACD) is home to Irish American University’s study abroad program. Studying abroad at ACD offers an exceptional opportunity for students to immerse themselves in culture while pursuing an academic career in an international setting.
ACD is located on historic Merrion Square in the centre of Dublin, and is within walking distance of the best cultural opportunities – theatres, museums, galleries, restaurants and traditional pubs. At ACD we understand that studying in Ireland is not just about the classes, it’s also learning about the culture and seeing this vibrant city and country. Therefore, we design our program so that study abroad students get to experience first hand the warmth and friendliness that is associated with the Irish culture in a city that is renowned for its friendly people and exciting nightlife.
Our Ireland campus is truly an international school. Our global faculty produces academically rigorous courses that are enjoyed by students of 35 different nationalities. Class sizes are small, which makes for a very personalized and intimate learning experience. The major areas of study are liberal arts (which incorporates tracks in Irish studies, English literature, history and American studies), creative writing, performing arts, musical theatre, and also in international business, hospitality management and event management.
Students can study with us during the fall and spring semesters (15 weeks) as well as in the summer. The summer sessions run for 4, 6 or 8 weeks, taught usually by ACD faculty, though sometimes faculty-led by a teacher from the home institution. Moreover, all of our programs offer the opportunity to combine study in the classroom with cultural excursions in and around Ireland.
