Covid-19 update 11th March

Please be informed that American College Dublin is taking the necessary precautions to preventing COVID-19, as recommended by the HSE. Desks, doorknobs, and other surfaces are being disinfected each night as a precaution.

Do not attend class if you are sick. If you are experiencing any symptoms linked to COVID-19, please contact your GP and/or the HSE helpline. It is especially important that you do not come to class if you have traveled out of the country within the past 2 weeks and are experiencing symptoms.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

• a cough – this can be any kind of cough, not just dry
• shortness of breath
• breathing difficulties
• fever (high temperature)

Preventative Measures:
We are waiting on our suppliers to restock hand sanitizers. In the meantime, please make sure to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the bathroom, before eating and/or touching your face, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
The HSE recommends the following additional preventative measures:

• avoid close contact with people who are sick
• avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
• stay home when you’re sick
• cover your mouth or sneeze with a tissue and disposing that tissue in the trash

In order to limit the spread of germs, lecturers will be asked to take attendance themselves for the time being rather than pass an attendance sheet around to be signed.

Plans:
Currently, there are no plans to close American College Dublin. We will continue to operate under the recommendations stipulated by the HSE. If the HSE’s recommendation for colleges and universities changes, you will be informed immediately.

Travel:
Under no circumstance should students travel to any of the following countries:

• China
• Iran
• Italy
• South Korea
• Japan

Students should take precaution in travelling to the following countries with increasing numbers of affected people:

• Germany
• Spain
• France
