Message from David Webb, Registrar:
With regard to the above courses, IB207 Accounting 2 and IB209 Probability and statistics, I have to inform you that it will not be possible to hold these exams in the upcoming session in an ‘open book’ format. Apart from the fact that these exams are mathematically oriented and are not conducive to ‘open book’ assessment, sitting these exams in ‘exam hall’ conditions is a precondition for the granting of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exemptions, and we have been advised by our Irish accreditors, Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), to make arrangements for these exams to be taken at a later stage under normal conditions, either in the July repeat session and/or the December 2020 session. We will advise you of these arrangements as soon as possible following consultation with the course lecturers and the Academic Committee.
Please be advised that any continual assessment components for these two courses, which are worth a total of 30% of total marks, will be carried over, so you should adhere to the deadlines set by your course lecturers and submit all assignments by the due date for the current semester 2, 2019/20.
I will be in touch with you again shortly to inform you of the exam regulations and exam timetable, both of which have been revised radically in light of our need to switch to an ‘open book’ and online submission format for this upcoming session.
If you have any queries or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.
